Raymond C. Gauthier

Raymond C. Gauthier, 84, of Springvale, died March 23 at the Goodall Hospital in Sanford after a brief illness.He was born in Springvale on March 11, 1921, the son of James and Emma (L'Heureux) Gauthier, and attended local schools.He was a veteran of the US Naval Service Coast Guard during World War II.He was employed for many years as a welder at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, retiring in 1982.He was a communicant of Notre Dame Church and was a member of the VFW post in Sanford.He was predeceased by 2 sons, James Gauthier in 1995 and Gerald Gauthier in 2003. He is survived by 2 grandchildren, Jamie and Jeffrey. He is also survived by his companion of 35 years, Lucy King, her son George King, her daughter and son-in-law Linda and Roger Cabana, and her 2 granddaughters Melissa and Robin Cabana, all of Sanford.Visiting hours will be held on Sunday from 5-8 PM at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter Street, Sanford. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday at 9 AM in Notre Dame Church in Springvale. Burial will be in the spring in St. Ignatius Cemetery.
