Rachel N. Wallingford

rachel wallingford
Rachel Normand Wallingford, age 76 of Cape Coral, FL, passed away on September 29, 2024 at her home in Lebanon, from a short but intense battle with cancer. Rachel graduated from Sanford High School and pursued a diverse career path that included roles as a surgical technician, Postmistress, and Realtor, holding licenses in both Florida and Maine. Known for her welcoming nature, and generosity, Rachel was a cherished figure among her family and friends; unfortunately, the advanced stage of her illness and other medical complications left Rachel with little energy for visits with her well-wishers. Rachel had a profound love of dogs and supported many animal welfare organizations. Rachel was deeply devoted to her family. Gardening was a special passion of hers that she enjoyed most with her grandson, Gabe. Rachel loved not only canning vegetables from her always impressive summer garden but also toiling well into the fall months making jellies, and canning applesauce as well as pie fillings from the expansive orchards of heirloom apples on their farm. She was an accomplished cook and baker. She had a lifelong love of oil painting and specialized in seascapes and horse paintings which are much admired. Rachel leaves behind her husband, Harvey Wallingford; daughter, Christen Wallingford Kozlowski; son-in-law Christopher Kozlowski; grandsons, Dominic and Gabriel Kozlowski and her remaining siblings. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar and Lillian Normand, as well as siblings. Rachel will be remembered for her kindness, her passionate involvement in her hobbies, and her unwavering support for her family. Rachel will be deeply missed by all who knew her. In lieu of flowers, Donations in honor of Rachel may be made to your local animal shelter/rescue. A memorial service will be held at 1:30pm on Thursday October 3 at the Carll-Heald and Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale.

Guestbook

  1. I was gifted with a painting from Rachel which is in our new home. She was certainly a talented artist. She was a lovely, kind person. She will be missed.

  2. I had the pleasure of meeting Rachael 7 yrs ago in Florida. Wonderful friend and my heart goes out to Harvey and family. Rachael gave me a painting and it will keep my memory of her forever

  3. To our Wallingford Family and the
    Kozlowski Family
A limb has fallen from the family tree. I keep hearing a voice that says , “Grieve not for me. Remember the best times, the laughter, the song. The good life I lived while I was strong. Continue my heritage, I’m counting on you. Keep smiling and surely the sun will shine through. My mind is at ease, my soul is at rest. Remembering all, how I truly was blessed. Continue traditions, no matter how small. Go on with your life, don’t worry about falls. I miss You all dearly, so keep up your chin. Until the day comes we’re together again.”

  4. From the first time we met, we felt like we had known each other forever. And from that point on, we shared 34 years of friendship. I will never stop missing you my friend, but nothing can ever take away all of our memories. Until we meet again ❤

  5. Harvey, Christen And family, our sincere sympathies for your loss. Words cannot express what she meant to all of us.
    Richard and Marilyn

  6. Missing the wonderful walks and talks in the Florida mornings. Rachel was a wonderful friend and neighbor, loved by all.

  7. Harvey, Christen and family. We are so saddened by this news. Rachel holds such a special place in both of our hearts. We have had so many great laughs with our meetings at the fence. She loved our pups like they were her own. She spoiled them so much. I could look out the window and see all three of them sitting by the fence just waiting for her to come out because they heard the screen door open. She had so much love for all of you. Rachel will forever be in our hearts. Thoughts and prayers to all of you. Love Will and Tara
