Rachel A. Desrochers

Rachel A. Desrochers, 91, of Sanford, died at home on August 10 after a lengthy illness.She was born in Victoriaville, Quebec, Canada on October 5, 1913, a daughter of Frederick and Eudoxie (Savoie) Lavigne. She attended schools in Canada and in Biddeford.She moved to Sanford in 1933 and was a longtime resident of High Street. She was employed over the years with the former Goodall-Sanford Textile Mills, Pioneer Plastic, Allied Shoe and for 11 years with the former Sprague Electric.She was a communicant of Holy Family Church and was a member of the Ladies of St. Anne and the Daughters of Isabella.Her husband, Alberic Desrochers, died in 1965.She is survived by a son, Raymond Desrochers of Las Vegas, NV, 3 daughters, Doris Martineau and her husband Donald, Lucille Lachance and Jacqueline Tapscott, all of Sanford, 2 brothers, John Lavigne of Biddeford, Brother Fernand Lavigne of Rhode Island, 19 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter.Visiting hours will be held on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter Street, Sanford. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday at 11 AM in Holy Family Church.
