R. Evelyn GerrySpringvaleR. Evelyn Gerry, 81, of Springvale died Wednesday morning June 13, 2001 at the H.D. Goodall Hospital in Sanford.Mrs. Gerry was born on January 2, 1920 in Springvale, ME. She was the daughter of Almon and Margaret Carson Farwell of Springvale. Mrs. Gerry attended Sanford schools and graduated from Sanford High School. On September 14, 1940 she married her husband of 60 years Arthur M. Gerry.All her life Mrs. Gerry volunteered her time to help out others. Whether it was her 20 plus years of service to local nursing homes, teaching Sunday school at the Pleasant St. Free Baptist Church, or visiting those who could not leave home; she dedicated herself to helping those in need. She was a member of the Pleasant St. Free Baptist Church, loving wife, mother, and grandmother.Mrs. Gerry enjoyed gardening, crafting, and traveling in her spare time.Two brothers Newton and Clyde Farwell predecease her.Surviving is her husband Arthur of Springvale; a daughter Joyce Iles of Moody, ME; two grandchildren, Susan Benuck of Durham, NH, Steven Iles of Rochester, NH and two great-grandchildren, Ashley and Zachary Benuck. Also surviving is a sister Gertrude Fletcher of Springvale and a brother Warren Farwell of Sanford.On Friday June 15, 2001 visitation will be held for Mrs. Gerry from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Heald Funeral Home, Springvale; where funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Springvale. The Rev. Dennis Reeves officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Mrs. Gerrys' memory to the Pleasant St. Free Baptist Church, 4-6 Pleasant St., Springvale, ME 04083
