Phyllis A. Cole

SOUTH PORTLAND Phyllis A. Cole, 94, died Saturday, March 5, 2016 at Mercy Hospital. Mrs. Cole was born in Hodgdon, daughter of the late Ambrose and Lucy (Roaix) Callahan. A graduate of Houlton High School; Phyllis attended Ricker College and graduated from Madigan Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She practiced her profession as a Registered Nurse for 46 years in various capacities from operating room supervisor, staff nurse supervisor, physicians office nurse to director of nursing. Phyllis was licensed and practiced as an R.N. in Maine, Florida, Arizona and California. She retired in May of 1990. She was a lifelong communicant of Holy Cross Church in South Portland. Mrs. Cole was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Rellon G. Cole; brother, James; sisters, Verginia Peabody Black, Evelyn D. Callahan and Nina Callahan; nephews, Donald J. Peabody, Ervin C. Peabody, and Earle T. Peabody. Phyllis is survived by a niece, Joyce P. Mitchell of Big Rapids, MI; nephew, Herman K. Peabody of Lincoln; Phylliss real pride and joy, the Peabody triplets Jimmy, Danny, and Laura along with a dear friend Carol Harrington; also survived by many grand and great-grand nieces and nephews, and several cousins. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at 11:00AM at Holy Cross Church, 124 Cottage Rd., South Portland. Burial will be held at a later date at Maine Veterans Cemetery, Augusta. Arrangements are under the direction of Conroy-Tully Crawford South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway, South Portland.
