Philip J. Lynch passed away Thursday November 3, 2022 at the age of 99 at Lodges Care Center in Springvale, Maine. Philip was born in Winthrop, MA on July 4, 1923. He was the son of Maurice A. Lynch and Helen (Doyle) Lynch. He was predeceased by his sisters Barbara (Dahill, Hammerstrom) and Jane (Hammerstrom) and his brothers Maurice, Jr. and Peter. Philip graduated from Malden Catholic High School and attended Northeastern University. He enlisted in the Navy during World War II and became a naval aviator and flew a Corsair fighter plane on the Franklin D. Roosevelt aircraft carrier. Philip was predeceased by his wife Margaret (Tierney) who passed away in 2014. They were married for over 65 years and had six children. Philip, along with his brother Peter started their own plumbing supply company, the Philip J. Lynch Company. It is still operating today after approximately 70 years during which time it has been run by Phil’s sons Philip, Jr. and then Peter. After Philip retired from business and the children were grown, he and Margaret moved away from MA and spent many years of early retirement in Ft. Myers, FL, Hilton Head Island, SC, and Dennis, MA before moving to ME in their later years. Philip is survived by his children: Philip, Jr. (Litchfield, NH), Maureen (Westford, MA), Margaret Scott (Tewksbury, MA), Peter (Chester, NH), Paul (Acton, ME) and Michael (Sanford, ME). Grandchildren: Richard & Kenneth Lynch, Jeffrey and Timothy Varitimos and Courtney Sienko. Great grandchildren: Shane and Josslin. A funeral mass will be celebrated on November 17 at 11 am at St. Catherine Church (Blessed Trinity Parish), 2 West Street, Westford, MA. A private family burial will take place at a future date at Lakeview Cemetery in Wolfeboro, NH. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Joslin Diabetes Center, One Joslin Place, Suite 745, Boston, MA 02215 or National Multiple Sclerosis Society, P.O. Box 91891, Washington, D.C. 20090-1891.   1. I have worked with Philips’ son Peter for several years at his namesake family business . I am honored to be part of that legacy and while I can’t profess to have known Philip he laid the foundation that has served his family for three (and soon four) generations. I offer condolences with respect.
