Newfield died Wednesday evening October 17, 2001 at the Goodall Hospital in Sanford, ME one day after celebrating his 88th birthday.Mr. Davis was born on October 16, 1913 in Newfield, ME. He was the son of Ernest and Lillian Merrow Davis. He attended schools in Maine and worked briefly at the Sanford Goodall Mills. In 1942 Mr. Davis moved to Lynn, MA.While in Lynn, MA Mr. Davis worked for General Electric as a machinist. He retired from G.E. after 30 plus years of service. He was a member of the G.E. Quarter Century Club. Following retirement he moved back to Maine.Mr. Davis enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He enjoyed trips to Canada Falls and camping with his wife. Sometimes Mr. Davis just enjoyed a nice ride along the countryside. He was quite a man in his day.His wife Astrid E. Davis predeceased him in 1990.Surviving is a daughter Beverly J. Davis and her long time companion George "Butch" LeBlanc of Newfield and several nieces and nephews.A period of visitation will be held on Monday October 22, 2001 from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM at the Heald Funeral Home, 580 Main St., Springvale. Following visitation there will be a 1:00 PM graveside service at the Maplewood Cemetery in Parsonsfield, ME.In Lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to the American Heart Association, P.O.
