Pauline D. Michaud

pauline michaud

With great sadness we announce the passing of Pauline Michaud. She passed peacefully with her loving daughters by her side, at the age of 88, in Springvale, Maine.

The daughter of Eva and Denis Charpentier and the youngest of siblings Gabriel and Raymond, Pauline was born in Sanford, Maine on August 11, 1934, where she was a lifelong resident.

To know Pauline was to love her. Twice a cancer survivor and three times a widower, Pauline lived a full and long life. A life filled with accomplishments to be proud of, unwaveringly and unselfishly dedicating it to loving, giving to and caring for her family that learned from her example, and saw in her their north star, the matriarch, always guided by her strong set of core values. Her wonderful family was the success story of Pauline’s life, for which she was incredibly proud.

Pauline was as strong as she was tender, blessed with a heart of gold, fun-loving, hardworking, with a great sense of humor. She was an avid gardener with a green thumb, enjoyed golfing, the sun (as evidenced by her perpetual tan), and spending time with her children and grandchildren at her and Pat’s cottage on Wilson Lake. She also enjoyed watching sports and was a Celtics and Redsox fan.

Pauline attended Sanford schools and after she married, worked hard at Roland’s Donut Shop, the bakery that she owned with her husband Roland, and later at Gene’s Bakery on School street, where her beautiful smile and sunny disposition brightened the day of all that walked through the door.

Pauline was preceded in death by her loving husbands, Roland Fortier, Robert McGurren and Patrick Michaud, her parents, Eva and Denis Charpentier, by her dear brother Raymond Charpentier, and her beloved sister Gabriel McCarn.

Pauline is survived and her spirit is carried on by her beloved children Susan Berard (husband Raymond), Dianne Gosselin (husband Eugene), Brenda Brown (husband Alan), and Karen Salazar (husband Oscar), Mike Michaud (wife Erin), Patrice Dinardo (husband Walt), Marty Michaud (wife Mariel) and the children of her late husband Robert McGurren; her cherished 11 grandchildren, Stacey, Ryan, Steven, Stefanie, Oscar, Arianna, Breanne, Shelby, Olivia, Christopher and Melanie; her treasured 12 greatgrandchildren, Brady, Bryce, Sofia, Giana, Emma, Oscar Roman, Drew, Landon, Alex, Molly, Lola and Elodie, and much-loved nieces and nephews.

Special thanks to the exceptional caregivers Missy, Jessie, Brock, Mercedes, Alena, and the many other kind-hearted angels who took care of Pauline in her time of most need. The family will never forget you.

If you would like to pay your respects to Pauline, a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Therese of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church on Saturday May 13 at 10:00am.

Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Pauline. What an incredibly full, long, and love-filled life she has lived! The pictures tell a wonderful story. I have so many great memories of growing up with “the girls” and remember well Pauline’s great sense of humor and her warmth. Love to you all as you celebrate her life and mourn her loss.

  2. Memere Pauline was such a strong woman and someone to look up to. She loved and lived for her family and raised some incredible women and she will live on through them and all the special memories. 💗

  3. Pauline was a very caring and loving soul. My memories go back to when she worked at my uncles bakery, and would give me a cookie on my walk home from school. She loved dad, and took great care of him. She will be missed, and is in our family prayers 🙏 ❤️

  4. Pauline was such a kind, caring, loving person. And the best step-mother I could have ever hoped for. She took such great care of my dad when he was ill, and that will never be forgotten.
Every summer when we came to Maine, she would always have a bag of M&M’s for my son, Christopher. I’ll never forget the time when she and Christopher bought a fighting fish and named him Scott. My dad loved watching Scott as his memory left him. Scott ended up living with them as we could not bring him home on a plane. We love you Pauline and will miss you so much.

  5. Jim and I wish to extend our deepest condolences to Sue, Dee, Brenda and Karen and their families for the loss of their mom who was my Aunt.
My Aunt was an extraordinary woman. She loved her family in a big way and there was nothing that she wouldn’t have done for any of them!
Like her brother, my dad, Raymond, she was small in stature but had a large presence. She possessed the Charpentier family work ethic!
I will always remember her warmth, humor and family loyalty!
I wish to acknowledge my cousin, Brenda’s selflessness in caring for her mom all these years in spite of everything else she had going on in her own life. Brenda always made the time to be there.
Whether it was sticking the fridge with delicious meals, making sure on Tuesdays that my Aunt was up and ready for the beautician to do her hair, taking her shopping even if it meant my Aunt would buy bathing suits that she would never wear or take her for a ride in the side by side with Alan singing Englebert songs!!
My dad was so grateful to Brenda for the exceptional care that she gave to his sister! Great job, Brenda! Now it is your turn to
    finally take time for you!

  7. So sorry to hear of Pauline’s passing. She was a beautiful and sweet lady. She always had a warm hug and a big smile to give whenever we saw her. She was a wonderful person.
