Paul G. Picard, 78, of Dover, NH, formerly of Springvale, died October 26 at the Riverside Rest Home in Dover after a lengthy illness.He was born in Springvale on January 16, 1932, a son of Norbert and Malvina (Plante) Picard and attended local schools.Mr. Picard served as a medic in the US Army during the Korean Conflict.Returning from the war, he married Lorraine McGinnis and they resided in Springvale where they started their family of three children.They moved to Rochester, NH where he was employed in the tool and die trade. For 20 years he owned and operated Hodgdon Tool and Die in Eliot. He sold the company, but continued to work in the trade until his retirement some years ago.He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who always put family first. He also enjoyed playing cribbage.He was predeceased by his wife in 1983.Survivors include a son, Gary Picard and his wife Veronica of Dover, NH, a daughter, Debra Young of Barrington, NH, a daughter Patricia Brown and her husband Jay of Maryville, TN, 2 sisters, Viola Lamontagne of Sanford, Pauline Woznicki of Trevose, PA, 6 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.Relatives and friends are invited to call on Thursday from 6-8 PM at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 11:00 AM at the Notre Dame Church of St. Therse of Lisieux Parish in Springvale. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Ignatius Cemetery in Sanford.Arrangements are under the direction of the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale.
