Paul J. Benoit

Paul J. Benoit 73 of Sanford died Saturday evening at the Greenwood Center following a period of declining health. He was born in Sanford March 8, 1932 a son of Arthur E. & Frances (Durgin) Benoit. He attended Sanford schools and was a graduate of Sanford High School. He later attended the former Nasson College for two years. Mr. Benoit was employed as an automobile salesman for most of his working life. He was employed at the former Sanford Chrysler & Plymouth Dealership , Towles Olds in Rochester, NH (now Poulin Country). He also worked in the circulation dept. of the Journal Tribune. Paul also worked for the late Earl Clark at the former L.A Hurd Funeral Home in Sanford. A life long resident, he was a communicant of Holy Family Church. Paul enjoyed golfing, sailing, ice fishing, hunting and open water fishing and was a registered maine guide. He and his wife Shirley enjoyed camping at Bungkanut Lake for over 43 years.Survivors are his wife of 47 years Shirley M. (Hupe) Benoit of Sanford, his daughter Debbie Pelletier and her husband Peter and daughter Tatiana of Biddeford, his son Dennis Benoit and his wife Mona and children Crystal & Derek all of Sanford. Visiting hours will be Tuesday 6-8 PM at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter St., Sanford.A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 :00 AM Wednesday in Holy Family Church.
