Patrick V. Bourque

Patrick V. Bourque, Sr. of Sanford, died October 27 at Maine Medical Center in Portland at the age of 77.He was born in Portland on May 23, 1933, the son of William and Cecile (Bouchard) Bourque of Springvale.Mr. Bourque served with the US Navy during the Korean Conflict.On August 11, 1956 he married Pauline Dion of Lebanon. Together they raised three children during 36 years of marriage which ended in her death in 1992.On September 3, 1995, he married Alberta Sheltra and was blessed with another great love.Patrick was self employed as a barber in Kittery for many years, retiring in 1993.He enjoyed golf and playing pool with his buddies at the Sanford Lodge of Elks where he was a life member. He loved telling stories during marathon "Party Boat" rides on Mousam Lake. Patrick's first joy was his family, and he took great pride in his grandchildren and great grandchildren.In addition to his first wife, he was predeceased by his brothers Donald Bourque, William "Billy" Bourque and his sisters Anita Kallis and Shirley Clark.In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter Brenda Moors and her husband Robert, son Patrick V. Bourque and his partner Michael Haley, daughter Anita Adams and her husband Michael, stepson Jerry Fletcher, stepdaughter Denise Haynes and her husband Gordon, sister Marlene Cyr and her husband Roger, 9 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.Relatives and friends are invited to call on Monday at 11:00 AM at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter Street, Sanford. Ritualistic services by the members of Sanford Lodge #1470, BPOE will take place at 12:30 PM. A memorial service will be conducted at the funeral home at 1:00 PM. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Ignatius Cemetery in Sanford.A reception will immediately follow the ceremonies at the cemetery at the Elks Lodge, Elm Street, Sanford.Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Maine Childrens Cancer Fund at MCCP Development Center, 22 Bramhall Street, Portland, ME 04102.Arrangements are under the direction of the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter Street, Sanford.
