Patricia Anne (Sullivan) Hayward, 91, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2026. She was born on August 12, 1935, in Watertown, Massachusetts, the daughter of Edward Paul Sullivan and Agnes Sullivan. She grew up in Watertown as part of a large, close family that shaped her strong sense of responsibility and service.
Patricia was the sister of Gerald M. Sullivan of Gloucester, Massachusetts, Kathleen (Sullivan) McKeever of Waterford, Connecticut, and Fr. E. Paul Sullivan of Yarmouthport, Massachusetts.
She was the wife of David Hayward, who predeceased her on June 28, 2024. Together they raised two sons, John P. Hayward of Woolwich, Maine, and David P. A graduate of Boston College, Patricia earned her nursing degree and went on to spend decades serving her community as a dedicated psychiatric nurse. Her work was marked by professionalism, steadiness, and a deep commitment to the well‑being of the people she cared for.
After retiring, Patricia moved to Maine, where she enjoyed the natural surroundings and the quieter pace of life. She spent her time volunteering at the Bath Maritime Museum, gardening, traveling, stamping, and kayaking. She also had a deep appreciation for Ireland and traveled there several times.
She will be remembered for her integrity, her lifelong dedication to service, and the grounded, practical way she approached both work and family.
