Pamela Jean Durgin, 69, of Sanford, passed away on Saturday, May 9, 2026 at Summer Commons in Sanford.
Born in Biddeford on August 28, 1956, Pamela was the daughter of Frederick and Jean Coughlin. She grew up in Sanford and attended local schools, graduating from Sanford High School in 1974.
Throughout her working life, Pam held a variety of jobs that reflected her strong work ethic and outgoing personality. She worked as a delivery driver for an auto parts store, in retail sales at Hooz’s and Macy’s, and for Pepsi Co. Before long, however, she found what truly brought her joy and purpose — opening her heart and home to others as a foster parent and shared living provider. Caring for people came naturally to Pam, and she touched many lives through her kindness, compassion, and generosity.
Pam was a gifted artist who loved drawing, painting, and making crafts. Her creativity could also be seen in her unique sense of style; she was always a sharp dresser who carried herself with confidence and flair. She loved music, especially songs by Carly Simon and Carole King, and she never missed an opportunity to dance. Some of her happiest moments were spent traveling the coast of Maine and visiting beaches with her beloved husband, Mark.
Pam was truly larger than life — energetic, rowdy, loud, and endlessly fun to be around. She was the life of every party and had a remarkable ability to make friends wherever she went. Her warm spirit, infectious laughter, and vibrant personality left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her. She also had a special love for cats and cared for many over the years.
She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all whose lives she brightened.
Surviving are her husband, Mark Durgin of Sanford; her close friend, Eliza Hennessey of Sanford; three siblings, Bethany Reed and her partner Jeff Hooper of Wells, Tricia Dugre of Lebanon, and Kevin Coughlin of Kittery; as well as several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 17th at the Black-Heald & Walker Funeral Home located at 580 Main Street in Springvale.
Arrangements are under the direction of Black-Heald & Walker Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Sanfoprd-Springvale.
