SANFORD–Norman Robichaud, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend died on July 22, 2025 at the Maine Veterans Home in Scarborough, Maine after a courageous battle with dementia. He was born on May 2, 1934 to Percy and Carrie Robichaud of Berlin. NH. Over the years he shared many stories about his life growing up in Berlin, namely talking about his mother and the beautiful cakes she would bake. Always a happy person, he had many friends and was very active during his years at Berlin, HS.
Loved by all who met him due to his infectious smile and his incredibly positive disposition, he will be missed by his 4 step children and 1 daughter, Richard Picard (Donna Flynn) of Alna, Maine, Patricia Walrath (Daniel) of Abilene, Texas, Elaine Picard of Sanford, Maine, Suzanne Patterson (Mark) of Bridgton, Maine, and Pamela Henderson (Rick) of Buxton, Maine. In addition, he leaves behind his grand children Kimberly Bryson (Rob) of Arlington, Virginia, Teri Dunham of Wilmington, Delaware, Devan Picard (Jordan Holmes) of Chicago, Illinois, Ian and Colin Patterson of Sanford, Maine, his brother Larry Provencher (Sandy) of Milo, New York and countless nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his wife of 31 years, Nicole Robichaud, his brother Richard Provencher (Jackie), a daughter Jaqueline Dunham, and a grandson Henri Picard. Norman always stated that the biggest pride in his life was his family, whom he loved dearly. He was always up for a family game of cards and of course, a good football game on tv!
Norman proudly served as Staff Sargent in the US Air Force from 1952-1956 where he was a Radio Operator during the Korean War. He shared many long stories about his travels throughout Europe and Asia and his experiences during his service, the most prominent being the day he met Marilyn Monroe, which he was particularly fond of sharing with everyone he met! Following his time in the service, Norman began his career with Yellow Freight Systems and declared “I’m the luckiest Frenchman ever” and “not bad for a poor kid from Berlin, NH” for having had a successful career in a field he loved until his retirement in 1996. Post retirement, he and Nicole enjoyed five years in San Marcos, California, where he became very active in many social activities, including bingo, which he continued to enjoy during his time at the Maine Veterans Home. The draw of family prompted he and Nicole to return to Maine, where he spent the remainder of his life.
The family wishes to thank the Maine Veterans Home staff in Scarborough, where he spent the last 5 ½ years of his life. During his time spent there, he made countless friends and immensely appreciated the care he received from his many providers.
There will be a private military service held for family at the Maine Veterans Cemetery in Springvale, Maine, where he will lie at rest next to his beloved wife, Nicole. Funeral services were prepared by Black-Heald Walker Funeral Home in Springvale, Maine.

There are ribbons of love
Wrapped around your heart
It is tied tightly to mine
I am not gone
I will always live in you
Remember my laugh
And let it lift you
Picture my smile often
And hold sweet memories close
Let these words be a gift to you
Until we are together again

Norman was my neighbor at the Maine Veteran home happy and joyful we enjoyed each other and he will be missed.
Rest in Peace my friend.
I’m saddened by Zeke’s passing. As his operations manager at Yellow Freight since 1979, I saw firsthand how well he connected with drivers, customers, and employees. He often shared stories from Berlin and his time in the US Air Force and always took an interest in my family. Zeke and Nicole were truly a wonderful couple, loved by family and friends.
My husband and I first met Norman and Nicole at the airport waiting for a flight to Venezuela, and the rest is history. We became great friends and had many travel adventures. Venezuela was the absolute best trip I’ve ever taken😊 Thanks to both of them we had the best time ever. So many laughs that I will never forget. Norman was such a great man, always had a smile on his face followed by his contagious laughter☺️ I miss them both greatly😌
So sorry for your loss
