Norman J. Bissell

Norman J. Bissell, 64, of Sanford, passed away on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at MaineHealth Maine Medical Center in Biddeford.

Norman was born on April 23, 1962, in Brownville, one of six sons of the late Gordon A. and Winifred Bissell. At a young age, his family moved to Wells, where he grew up and attended local schools, graduating from Wells High School.

Norman spent nearly 21 years working at Prompto in Sanford, where he served as an assistant manager. He was a dedicated and hardworking employee who took pride in his work and was always willing to lend a helping hand.

Those who knew Norman will remember him as a fun-loving, mellow, generous, and helpful man. In his free time, he enjoyed working on puzzles and trying his luck with scratch tickets. He appreciated the simple things in life

In addition to his parents, Norman was predeceased by two brothers, Edward and Paul Bissell, and his niece, Denise Bissell.

He is survived by his significant other of 17 years, Angelia Bissell of Springvale; his stepdaughter, Jennifer Smith and her partner Matt of Dover; his brothers, Scott Thurston of Berwick, Richard Bissell and his wife Karen of Limington, Michael and Brett Wallingford and Gordon “Randy” Bissell of Springvale; his niece, Kimberly Bissell of Sanford; and several additional nieces and nephews.

At the family’s request, there will be no services.
