Norman Girard

Norman Girard, 78, of Sanford, passed away on Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at the Maine Medical Center in Portland as a result of an automobile accident in Sanford. He was born in St. Anne, New Brunswick, Canada on May 15, 1931, a son of the late George and Le'da Girard. At a young age he trained to become an amateur boxer. After attending trade school he worked for many years as a welder with the International Union of Operating Engineers.Mr. Girard was a 3rd and 4th Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus, Old Orchard Beach Councils. He was also a communicant of St. Therese of Lisieux Parish in Sanford.He is predeceased by his granddaughter, Tiffany Webber; two sisters, Annette and Rina, and a brother, Clairemont.He is survived by his daughters, Denise Webber of Dexter, Theresa Roy and her husband, Scott of Biddeford, Amy Fournier and her husband, John of Saco, Sara Spencer of Rockland; nine grandchildren, Jessica and Matthew Webber, Chad Beaulieu, Samuel Roy, Drew and Aidan Fournier, Emma and Molly Spencer and Ellie Farnham; three sisters, Georgette, Albertine "Tina", Yvonne, and one brother, Gerard "Bee".Visiting hours for Mr. Girard will be on Sunday, January 24th, from 1 to 3PM at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale, with a funeral service at 3PM.Those planning an expression of sympathy are as to consider the Barbara Bush Children's Hospital @ Maine Medical Center, 22 Bramhall Street, Portland, Maine 04102.
