Neil Brochu
July 19, 1986 ~ September 25, 2026
Resided in:
Saco, Maine
Neil Michael Brochu, 40, was born on July 19, 1986, in Portland, Maine, and passed away on September 25, 2026. He leaves behind family who loved him deeply, friends who will miss him dearly, and memories that will bring both laughter and tears to all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Neil grew up in southern Maine and attended schools in Saco and Falmouth, where he played football during his high school years. From an early age, he developed a strong work ethic, a love of learning new skills, and an appreciation for the simple things in life.
A graduate of culinary school at NECI, Neil began his professional life as a chef in Portland, Maine, and Boston, Massachusetts. He developed a passion for cooking that remained with him throughout his life. Never one to shy away from hard work or a new challenge, Neil went on to build a career in property management and the trades. He became a skilled carpenter, electrician, and all-around handyman—a true jack-of-all-trades who took pride in working with his hands, solving problems, and providing for the people he loved.
Of all the roles Neil held throughout his life, none meant more to him than being a father.
His daughter, Amelia Athearn Brochu, affectionately known as “Mimi,” was the center of his world. Neil lived to be her dad. Whether they were drawing, painting, hiking, or exploring the beautiful outdoors surrounding their home in Eugene, Oregon, he cherished every opportunity to spend time with her.
Some of Neil’s happiest moments were found in the simplest routines. Drawing on his love of cooking, he delighted in preparing breakfast for Amelia each morning, carefully cutting fresh fruit, making oatmeal from scratch, or cooking eggs and bacon—whatever Mimi happened to want that day. For Neil, being a father was not simply about the big moments or special occasions. It was about being present, sharing experiences, and finding joy in caring for his little girl.
Outside of work and family, Neil had a passion for fitness and loved spending time in the gym. Music was an important part of his life, as were movies, video games, and the seemingly endless collection of movie quotes he enjoyed sharing with those closest to him. He had a sense of humor that could turn an ordinary conversation into a memorable one, and he appreciated the kind of laughter that comes from years of shared experiences and inside jokes.
Neil never measured his life by material possessions or outward appearances. He found satisfaction in honest work, meaningful relationships, and the simple pleasures of everyday life. He was happiest when he had something to work on, someone to laugh with, or an opportunity to spend time with the people he loved.
To his family, Neil was much more than the sum of his accomplishments. He was a son, a father, a brother, and a friend. To his brothers, he was a best friend—a companion through years of laughter, music, movies, and the countless ordinary moments that, in the end, become extraordinary memories.
Neil will be remembered for his hardworking spirit, his humor, his many talents, and, above all, the tremendous love he had for his daughter and family.
Neil is survived by his beloved daughter, Amelia; his brothers, Matt Brochu, Lex Goduti, and Ian Goduti; his parents, Shannon Goduti and Dave Brochu; his stepfather, Richard Goduti; his countless nieces and nephews; extended family and friends, who will continue to honor his memory and carry his love with them.
His absence leaves a space that cannot be filled, but his memory will live on in the stories told, the laughter shared, the music played, and the everyday moments that remind those who loved him of the man they were so fortunate to know.
Perhaps nowhere will his legacy be more meaningful than in the life of his beloved Mimi, who will always carry with her the love of a father who found his greatest happiness in being hers.
Neil will be deeply loved, profoundly missed, and never forgotten.
