Napoleon Homer Bourque, 89 years old, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2006 surrounded by his family at Goodall Hospital. He was born on June 19, 1916 at Lower Cape Bald, New Brunswick, Canada. He was the son of Louis and Elodie Bourque. He left school after the 6th grade to help support his family at the beginning of the great depression. He worked as a welder, first in South Portland for over 30 years and then for 13 years with General Electric from which he retired. He was an avid golfer and was a member of the Sanford Country Club for over 40 years.He played in the Senior League until he was 87 years old. He also enjoyed woodworking and building furniture for his family and did so until December of 2005. He loved baseball and to the chagrin of his family was an avid Yankees fan. He is preceded by his brothers, Lionel, Albert, Alcide, and sisters, Irene, Rena, Aldea and Albenia.Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Dora Mayotte Bourque, one son Ronald Bourque and his wife Ann of Sebago, a daughter, Claire Brooks and her husband Mike of Sanford. Also surviving are 2 brothers, Armand Bourque and his wife Lorette of Sanford and Donald Bourque and his wife Rita of Saco. Also surviving are 5 granddaughters, Michelle Hersom and her husband Aaron of Sanford, Lisa Cheken and her husband Ed of Pittsburg, Pa. Ellen Bourque and her fiance Shawn of Chicago, Il, Debbie Legere and her husband RJ of Sanford, Emily Burks and her husband Matt of California and 5 great-grandchildren, Jessica, Samantha, Alex, Sarah and Emma. There will be a memorial service at St Ignatius Church on Wednesday, May 17, 2006 at 11:00 AM. Arrangements are through the Lafrance-Lambert &Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter Street, Sanford.
