Nancy Elizabeth LaRoche, 46, of Sanford, died July 26 at the Goodall Hospital in Sanford surrounded by her loving family after a brief illness.She was born in Sanford on October 14, 1959, a daughter of Louis and Simonne (Lavalley) Rivard, attended Sanford schools and was a 1977 graduate of Sanford High School.Nancy went to work at Lavalley Lumber after high school and was employed there off and on until 2004.Nancy was very athletic and enjoyed playing basketball and softball. She was a skilled bowler who won the Maine State Women's Candlepin Championship in 1982. Golf was her passion, and she particularly enjoyed a round of golf with her children. She was the Ladies Club Champion at the Sanford Golf Club in the late 1990's.Nancy was a sports fan, especially of the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. For the past few summers she volunteered as a softball umpire for the Sanford Little League.She was predeceased by her brother Mark Rivard in 1982.Survivors include her children, Jessica L. LaRoche, Kevin P. LaRoche and Kimberly A. LaRoche, all of Sanford, her former husband Patrick LaRoche of Sanford, her parents Louis and Simonne Rivard of Sanford, and Port Charlotte, FL, a sister, Marilyn St. Jean and her husband Ron of Alfred, 2 brothers, Michael Rivard and his wife Anne of Ann Arbor, MI, John Rivard and his wife Michelle of Sanford, sister-in-law Linda Forni and her husband Louis of Sanford, several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.Visiting hours will be held on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter Street, Sanford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 11 AM in Holy Family Church with the Rev. Timothy J. Nadeau officiating. Burial will follow in St. Ignatius Cemetery in Sanford.Those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider the Maine Children's Cancer Program, 100 US Route 1 Unit 107, Scarborough, ME 04074.
