Myrtle Elizabeth Hubbard

Myrtle E. Hubbard, 93, longtime resident of Limerick, died April 29, 2004 at Maine Medical Center following a brief illness. She was born January 26, 1911 in Eastport, ME a daughter of Thomas and Leversie (Maskell) Dyer and grew up in the Belfast and Brooks area of Maine. She was a graduate of Monroe High School with the Class of 1931.She became a resident of Limerick in 1949, when she and her husband made their home there. Mrs. Hubbard was a faithful member of the Limerick United Church of Christ Congregational Church. She would be found working many church suppers. Her "famous" potato salad became a mainstay. She also ran the annual Rummage Sales for several years. She enjoyed gardening, flower arranging and made many bouquets for family members who married. Mrs. Hubbard belonged to the Women's Fellowship group at church and was an active member of the York County Extension. She was an independent women well into her early 90's.Survivors include three daughters, Ethel and husband, Ronald Phinney of Limington; Charlene and husband, Richard Staples of Limerick and Rita and husband, Wayne Martell of Limington. 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren and 2 great, great grandchildren. A brother, Raymond Dyer of Winslow. Three sisters, Bernice Fish of Belfast and Lee Doering and Myra Powell both of Winslow. She was predeceased by her husband, Russell Hubbard in 1993 and her grandson, David Phinney in 2003.Calling hours will be held Sunday, May 2nd. At the Heald Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale from 6 - 8 pm. A Funeral Service will be Monday, May 3, 2004 at the Limerick Congregational Church at 2:00 pm with the Rev. Franklin Anderson, officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Annex Cemetery.Memorial donations are encouraged to be made to the Limerick Fire & Rescue, P.O. Box 195, Limerick, ME 04048.
