Myrtle A. Hammond

Myrtle A. Hammond, 99 years old, of Sanford, and formerly of Lyman and Limerick died Tuesday September 23, 2003 at the H.D. Goodall Hospital in Sanford.Mrs. Hammond was born on March 16, 1904 in Parsonsfield, ME. She was the daughter of Orrin and Josephine Hodgton Sprague. She attended the Limerick Academy, and for several years worked at the Limerick, Goodall-Sanford, and Kezar Falls Linen Mills. She also packed apples for Northeast Cold Storage.Mrs. Hammond was a fine homemaker as well. She loved to cook and bake the most delicious molasses cookies. She enjoyed tending to her flower gardens, and playing dominoes with her daughters.Predeceasing her is her husband Sidney Hammond, and their daughter Eleanor Climch.Surviving is a daughter Beverly Littlefield of Portland, a son Rodney Hammond of Lyman, 11 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 4 great great-grandchildren.A period of visitation will be held this Friday September 26th from 12 to 1 PM, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM at the Heald Funeral Home, 580 Main St. Springvale, ME.For those that desire memorials may be made to the Sanford Healthcare Facility Activity Fund, 863 Main St. Sanford, ME 04073.
