Muriel Virginia Binette

Muriel V. Binette, 90, lifelong resident of Sanford, died Monday, November 08, 2004 at the Greenwood Nursing Center.She was born December 29, 1913 a daughter of Victor and Jessie (Dyer) McFarland, but was raised by her stepmother, Dora McFarland. She attended local schools and graduated from Sanford High School with the Class of 1931. Mrs. Binette was a hard worker, one who was employed as a winder in the Goodall Sanford Mills before they closed. She worked at local shoe factories and retired from Sprague Electric. Mrs. Binette loved going to the beach and enjoyed animals and always had a dog for companionship. She traveled with her son to Spain, Bermuda and California. She lived a good healthy 90 years. She was independent and was still driving her car until she was well into her late 80's. She enjoyed attending her class reunions to reminisce with classmates.Survivors include a son, Ernest Houle, Jr. of Kittery; a nephew, Scott McFarland of Shapleigh and two nieces, Charlene McFarland and Patty McFarland both of Sanford. Also, many other nieces and nephews. She was happily married for over 40 years to Arthur Binette before his death in 1988.A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, November 12, 2004 at 9:00 am atSt. Ignatius Church in Sanford.
