Miriam H. Seaver

Miriam Helen Goodman Seaver, 95, of Kennebunk was Promoted to Glory on August 2, 2011 at the Southridge Living and Rehabilitation Center in Biddeford. She was born in Camden, NJ, on November 3, 1915, a daughter of the late James and Florence Goodman. She graduated from Camden High School. She then attended Glassboro State College earning a teaching certificate and was the commencement speaker at graduation. She earned her B.S. Degree from Penn State University and a Masters Degree in Special Education from Trenton State University. She then attended the Salvation Army Training School and became a Salvation Army Officer.On December 26, 1941 she married J. Douglass Seaver in Camden, NJ. Together they served in various locations including the USO in New York and social work in New Jersey and New York. They retired in 1968, after over 40 years of service and moved to Lebanon. In retirement she enjoyed travelling and took several trips to Europe, the Greek Islands and Russia.She was predeceased by her husband, J. Douglass Seaver who passed on November 6, 1978 and by two brothers, William and Kenneth Merrigan.She is survived by her children, Douglass Seaver and his wife Cheryl of Connecticut, Jonathan Seaver and Joy Dee Seaver both of Maine, grandchildren, Kate Seaver, Sydney Seaver, Sam Atwood, Will Seaver, Jack Atwood and great grandson, Ian Atwood.A funeral service for Mrs. Seaver will be held on Sunday, August 7th at 3:00 PM at the Salvation Army Citadel, 2 Sixth Street, Old Orchard Beach, Maine. Burial will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery in Saco.
