Mildred L. Hooper, 94, of, Shapleigh, passed away on Saturday March 12, 2011 at the Greenwood Center in Sanford. She was born in Acton on April 11, 1916, a daughter of the late Forrest and Grace (Nason) Laskey. She graduated from Waterboro High School in 1934.She worked for 46 years as the postal clerk at the Shapleigh Post Office retiring when the office was moved out of her home, which was also Hooper's General Store to its present location.She loved crafts and was known for her quilting, rug braiding, and crocheting abilities. She also loved working in her flower gardens. She was a life member of both the Order of Eastern Star and the Mousam Lake Grange.She is predeceased by her husband, Lloyd E. Hooper who passed away in 1995, one daughter, Jane E. Hilton who passed away in 2000, one sister, Doris Daney and one brother, Frank Laskey who both passed away in 2007.She is survived by three nieces, Carol MacDonald, Dianne Holden, Nancy Brandt, two nephews, Danny Laskey and Larry Laskey, one sister in law, Helen Laskey.A funeral service will be held on Friday at 1PM at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale.
