Mildred E. (Moulton) Grant, resident of Shapleigh since 1926, died Wednesday, January 26, 2005 at the Greenwood Center in Sanford. She was born January 18, 1908 a daughter of Benjamin and Flora (Burnham) Moulton. She attended local schools and at a young age worked at Goodall Mills, picked apples at local orchards and cooked lunches at Shapleigh and Wells High School. During the summer months, she worked at the Luther Gulick Camp for Girls in Casco for 14 Years before retiring in 1974.Mrs. Grant was a long time member and recipient of a 55-year pin at Mousam Lake Grange and a 27-year member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She received the Boston Post Cane for being the oldest resident of Shapleigh in 1993. She loved to cook, crochet, knit and play BINGO. She collected salt & pepper shakers and enjoyed giving treats & playing with her granddaughter's 4 dogs. Spending time with her grandchildren was a highlight of her day. She was loved by all who met her and was a devoted mother and grandmother. Survivors include a daughter, Lorene Nash, of Shapleigh, daughter-in-law, Marion Grant, of Berwick, a niece, Arlene Tuttle; a nephew Frank Moulton; 9 Grandchildren, Douglas Nash and wife, Jane; Thomas Nash and wife Ann; Sherri Nash-Parry and husband Jeffrey; Danny Grant and wife Christine; Robert Smilie and wife Linda; Patricia Watkins and husband Scott; Leeland Grant and wife Rhonda; Linwood Grant and wife Mary Ann and Vicki Grant; 14 Great-Grandchildren and 1 Great-Great-Grandson.She was predeceased by her son, Raymond Grant Jr. in 1998; a daughter, Carlene Smilie, in 1999; brother, Moses Moulton, II; 2 sisters, Olive Tanner and Alice Savagiao and a nephew, Moses Moulton.Funeral Services will be Sunday, January 30, 2005 at 2:00 pm at the Heald Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale with the Rev. Jim McAtee, officiating. Family and friends may call from 1:00 pm until the hour of the service. Burial will be later in the spring.Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 163 Lancaster St. Suite 160B, Portland, ME 04101 or to the Greenwood Nursing Home Activity Fund, 1142 Main Street, Sanford, ME 04073.
