SPRINGVALE--Michael David Cyr 73, passed peacefully, surrounded by family on March 23 due to illness.
Mike was a gentle soul who used humor and personal stories to connect with the people he met. He was the type of guy that could do just about anything, the consummate handyman, who pulled from his vocations as an electrician, a boiler engineer, and his experiences growing up with his dad who was a builder. He enjoyed a variety of hobbies from baking sweets to maintaining his meticulously landscaped back yard to singing and playing guitar and the keyboard. Music was an interest that began for Mike as a kid. In high school Mike played in a guitar duo, and his musical interests carried through to his adult life where he played and sang as a hobby both at home and at mass at various Sanford Catholic churches. Mike’s faith was important to him, and he strived to honor those values in the way he lived and treated people.
Mike met the love of his life Joyce (Therrien) Cyr at the young age of 16. After serving three years in the US Army they married on September 18, 1971 and enjoyed 51 years of marriage before his passing. Mike is survived by his wife Joyce, their son Patrick and two granddaughters Annie and Eliza.
Mike was predeceased by his parents Wilfred and Lillian and two brothers Raymond and Robert. He also leaves behind a brother Norman, brother and sister-in-law Robert and Gayle Martineau, sister-in-law Joan Cyr Breton and many friends, nieces, and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Therese of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church on Friday, March 31 at 10:00 am.

Joyce and Family,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. So sorry that you have to go through this. May God hold you and comfort you during this most difficult time.

Corinne and Tom
Mike was like a live guardian Angel when it came to anyone needing help in the neighborhood. Now he is one of God’s Angels. I will miss seeing his smiling face but I guess God needed him more.
Friend and neighbor.
My sincere condolences to Joyce and Patrick.
My prayers are with his family and friends. I enjoyed my interactions with Michael as his pastor for seven years. He was a kind and loving man, a disciple of great faith. He always seemed to have a great question or keen insight to share. Fr Phil

Joyce, I just heard about Mike’s passing. I want you to know I mourn with you. Your husband was a great man. He always greeted me with a beautiful smile. I thank you both for all your kind words and prayers when I lost my son Brandon. Now it is my turn to offer you my sincere condolences. I pray for you to have peace in your heart. You were blessed to have such a wonderful sole mate. May he rest in peace.
