Michael R. Brochu, Sr., 56, of Acton, died unexpectedly at home recently from an acute heart attack.He was born in Sanford on February 21, 1949, a son of Paul J. and Jeanne d'Arc (Pepin) Brochu. He attended Sanford schools and was a 1967 graduate of Sanford High School.He served in the US Navy during the Viet Nam era, and then served in the Army National Guard in Connecticut in the 1970's.He was a member and current commander of the Disabled American Veterans post in Sanford, a member of the Amvets, the American Legion and the Elks Lodge, all in Sanford.He was a Harley-Davidson enthusiast and mechanic. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. A beloved father, grandfather and brother, he will be sorely missed.Survivors include a daughter, Melissa Brochu and her fiance Steve Berry of Merrimac, MA, 2 sons, Michael R. Brochu, Jr. of Lyman, Christopher S. Brochu of Connecticut, 2 brothers, Marc Brochu of Acton, Douglas Brochu of E. Wakefield, NH, his 5 grandchildren Brian, Heather, Jonathon, Amanda and Nicole, and by several nieces and nephews.A celebration of his life will take place from 7-9 PM on Thursday at the VFW Hall, 1 Hutchinson Street, Sanford. Arrangements are through the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter Street, Sanford.
