MaryAnn Morin

June 10, 1944 ~ May 13, 2026

Born in: Portland, ME
Resided in: Portland, ME

Portland – With deep love and sadness, the family of MaryAnn Morin, 81, shares that she passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, after her journey with Alzheimer’s disease. She was born in 1944 and lived most of her life in Portland, Maine, a city she loved and called home.

A true Portland girl, MaryAnn grew up in the West End and always had a special fondness for Libbytown. She began school at West School, continued on to King Middle School, and later attended Portland High School — where she met the love of her life, her high school sweetheart, Jerry. She carried with her a lifelong love of history and a deep appreciation for the places, people, and stories that shaped her life.

MaryAnn was a devoted wife to her beloved husband, Jerry, and a loving mother to her three children, Kris, Jay, and Randy. Her family was the center of her world. She loved deeply, laughed easily, and brought warmth, humor, and joy into the lives of those around her. She had a special gift for impromptu living room dance parties — the kind that needed no occasion, only the right song and the people she loved.

She loved to dance, sing, and celebrate life. Her love of animals brought her endless joy, and her home was all the warmer for it. Her faith was also very important to her. She converted to Catholicism around the time she married Jerry, and the Catholic Church remained a meaningful part of her life. Her church community, friends, and family were all deeply important to her. She volunteered countless hours in her church and community, giving generously of her time and heart throughout her life.

MaryAnn spent most of her working life as a Telecommunications Designer at Unum, a career she brought her characteristic dedication and care to.

MaryAnn was, in many ways, “sugar and spice and everything nice.” The sugar showed in her kindness, tenderness, and love. The spice showed in her humor, her spark, and her feisty spirit — even a little rebellious in the best and most lovable way. At the age of 50, she decided she wasn’t going to cook anymore, and true to herself, she meant it. That little bit of spiciness made her fun, approachable, easy to talk to, and unforgettable.

She will be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend — loving, funny, faithful, and full of heart. Her family is grateful for the love she gave, the memories she created, and the lasting imprint she leaves on all who were blessed to know her.

MaryAnn was predeceased by her parents, Francis T. Michaud and Lavina Edgcombe; siblings, David B. Michaud and Audrey Michaud Contois; beloved Aunt Evelyn; and granddaughter and namesake, Emily MaryAnn Torrey, who carried her name and spirit forward. She is survived by her beloved husband, Jerry; her children, Kris and Larry, Jay and Toshimi, and Randy and Katie; grandchildren, Elizabeth and Phil, Ben, Trase, Miki, Alex, and Liam; her great-grandchildren, Lanie and Bronson; brother, Francis Michaud; nieces nephews, and many loved ones whose lives were touched by her.

The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the many people who loved MaryAnn and helped make her life richer — her dear friends, her community, and her church family. Their kindness, friendship, prayers, and presence meant so much to her and to those who loved her.

The family is especially grateful to Affinity Hospice for the compassionate care they provided. Their kindness, guidance, and support helped MaryAnn remain comfortable at home, surrounded by love, in accordance with her wishes.

Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. To one of favorite aunts. Aunt MaryAnn and I had a special bond during my Jr. High School Years. The summer after 7th grade I had the pleasure of spending this time with her and the family. It was a sweet time to reconnect and become even closer with her. My mom, Audrey, was MaryAnn’s older sister by 8 years and she passed away November 2018, suffering with dementia and other medical issues . I feel so sad hearing this news but my heart is full knowing she’s in heaven with other members of her family. After seeing Jesus, I’m sure my mom was waiting in line for the reunion. I will miss Aunt Maryann yet I’m thankful for all the sweet memories. RIP Aunt MaryAnn. ♥️😇 🙏🏼

  2. MaryAnn – your smiles, warmth, laughter, and twinkling eyes will be missed but you live on through everyone you touched. Rest in peace. ❤️❤️❤️
