Mary Laureen Walsh

Mary Laureen Walsh, 68, of Springvale, died August 3 at the Goodall Hospital in Sanford after a long illness.She was born on April 9, 1937 in Peekskill, NY and attended schools in New York. She earned an undergraduate degree at SUNY Albany in New York. The lived in Durham, NH for a while and then moved to Meadville, PA where she earned her masters degree at Allegheny College.In 1976 she moved to El Segundo, CA where she was employed with the former Western Airlines. Western was bought out by Delta Airlines, and in the early 1980's she moved to Atlanta, GA where she worked for Delta writing technical manuals. After 23 years in the airline industry, she retired and moved to Maine in 2000.She enjoyed cooking, knitting and reading. She provided knit toys for the Summer Reading Club at the Louis B. Goodall Library in Sanford where her daughter works.Her daughter remarked on what a great mother and best friend she had in the same person.She is survived by 2 daughters, Deidre Walsh of Springvale with whom she resided and Carey Walsh of Portland.At her request there will be no services.
