Mary L. Murphy

Mary L. Murphy, 76, of Shapleigh, Maine, and formerly of Malden, MA, passed away on Friday January 28, 2011 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough, ME. She was born in Boston, MA, on October 2, 1934 a daughter of the late Vincent and Louise (Landry) Duffy.Mrs. Murphy was a graduate of Northeastern University. She retired in 1997 with 30 years of service from MIT at Lincoln Laboratory where she had been employed as a Librarian. After retirement along with her husband she moved to West Newfield, Maine and then to Shapleigh.A member of the Red Hat Society, she was also active with the Trafton Center and was a member of the Board of Directors for AARP in Sanford.She is predeceased by her husband, Paul E. Murphy who passed away in 2001.She is survived by her children, Paul E. Murphy and his wife, Kathy of West Newfield, ME, Mary Cuevas and her husband, Jeffrey of South Portland, ME, grandchildren, Heather Murphy of West Newfield, ME, Andrew Nolan of FL, sisters, Maureen Nickerson of Wilmington, MA and Barbara Roberts of CA, as well as many nieces and nephews.Visiting hours for Mrs. Murphy will be held on Tuesday, February 1st, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8PM at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale, ME. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11AM at St. Therese of Lisieux Parish, Notre Dame Church in Springvale.Burial will be in the spring at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden, MA.Condolences may be expressed at www.blackfuneralhomes.com
