Marion Walmsley

Marion A. Walmsley, 80, a longtime resident of Sanford, died July 12 at the St. Andre Health Care Facility in Biddeford after a long illness.She was born in Shapleigh on December 15, 1925, the youngest of 7 children of Frank and Florence (Seavey) Bickford and attended Shapleigh schools.She had been employed in local shoe shops many years ago. In 1948 she married William P. Walmsley and had been a homemaker most of her life. Mr. Walmsley predeceased her.An active church goer, she attended several area churches including the Shapleigh Corner Baptist Church and was a member of the Ladies Aid.In possession of a keen sense of humor and a generous spirit, she made it a habit of visiting the elderly and shut-ins in their homes and in nursing homes and instilled these values into members of her family. Well known and well loved, she had many friends and will be missed.Survivors include 2 sons, Karl W. Walmsley of Florida, Steven C. Walmsley, his wife Debbie and their daughters Jana Walmsley and Stephanie Walmsley of Mississippi, a daughter, Pamela L. Chambers, her husband Robert and her children William DeVore and Tange Nave of Springvale, 2 sisters, Dorothy Boothby and Ruth Rankin, both of Springvale, 2 great granddaughters Utopia Brooks and Carma Brooks, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.A graveside service will be held on Tuesday at 1 :30 PM in Riverside Cemetery in Springvale. A reception will follow at The Family Center, 574 Main Street, Springvale. Arrangements are through the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter Street, Sanford.
