Marice E. Bertrand

He was born in Thetford Mines, Quebec, Canada on July 12, 1910, a son of William and Marie Louise (Chamberlain) Bertrand. He came to Sanford in 1914 and attended schools here.During World War II, he worked at the former South Portland Shipyard. After the war, he was employed with several local shoe shops including Universal Shoe. He retired from the former Sanford Trust Company in 1977 where he had worked as a custodian.He was a communicant of St. Ignatius Church and a member of the Lafayette Social Club.He was predeceased by a son, Donald Bertrand in 1944, and by his wife, the former Yvonne Thibeault in 2004.Survivors include 2 sons, Richard Bertrand of Sanford, Raymond Bertand of Weyland, MA, 6 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 6-8 PM at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter Street, Sanford. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday at 11 AM in St. Ignatius Church. Burial will follow in St. Ignatius Cemetery.
