Marian Holland

Marian Holland, 68, of 1 Maurice Avenue, died Wednesday, January 5, 2005 at Maine Medical Center in Portland with loving family by her side. Mrs. Holland was born in Nottingham, England July 15, 1936, a daughter of George and Edith (Pollard) Scott. She attended schools in Nottingham. She met and married her husband, William, who was stationed with the USAF in England. Two of her children were born there and her third child was born while they were stationed in California. They returned to Sanford in 1972 where they raised their family.Mrs. Holland worked at the former Park View Homes for the Elderly for several years. She had been active in league bowling, tennis and ceramics. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting and making a home for her husband and children. She also attended Curtis Lake Christian Church when her health permitted. She was known for her sharp wit and positive attitude, even in the face of adversity. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, sister, and friend. All who were fortunate enough to have her in their lives will dearly miss her.She is survived by her husband of 41 years, William A. Holland of Sanford; two sons, Scott A. and his wife Kim Holland of Alfred and Jason P. and his wife Karalyn Holland of Maitland, FL; a daughter, Alison J. Holland of Sanford; a sister, Mary Scott of England; three grandchildren, Alexander W. and Corey R. Holland of Alfred and Krista L. Dorr of Sanford.Relatives and friends may call at the Heald Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale on Friday, January 7, 2005 from 4-7 pm. Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Saturday, January 8, 2005 at the funeral home. Rev. Jim McAtee, pastor of Curtis Lake Christian Church, will officiate.
