Margaret H. Smart

Margaret H. Smart, 74 years old, of Alfred, ME died Saturday, June 03, 2006 at the H.D. Goodall Hospital in Sanford.Mrs. Smart was born in Windsor, VT on July 6, 1931. She was the daughter of the late Robert and Frances (Rivers) Blow.Mrs. Smart worked in jewelry stores in Portland, the Ocean National Bank of Kennebunk, and retired from Sprague Electric of Sanford after 14 years of service.She was a past matron of the Order of eastern star. She sang in several church choirs over the years including the Methodist Church of Goodwins Mills, the Blaisdale Baptist Church of S. Waterboro, N. Alfred Church and the S. Waterboro Church which she attended until her health began to fail.Predeceasing Mrs. Smart was her son Russell L. Smart Jr.Surviving is her husband of over 52 years, Russell L. Smart Sr. of Alfred, a son Rodney C. Smart, and a daughter, Elizabeth May Lachance and her husband Normand of Petersburg, VA. Also surviving is a sister Ila Blanchard of Vermont; two brothers, Albee Blow of Alfred, Carl Blow of Washington, and two granddaughters, Jo-Lynn and Savannah Lachance also of Petersburg, VA.A 2:00 PM graveside service for Mrs. Smart will be held this Wednesday, June 7, 2006 at the Evergreen Cemetery in Alfred, ME.In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Alfred Rescue, PO Box 36, Alfred, ME 04002.Arrangements have been handled through the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home of Springvale, ME.Condolences may be expressed by using the tab to the left.
