Margaret Jeanne O'Donnell

Westbrook, ME – Margaret "Peggy" O'Donnell, 80, passed away peacefully on October 6, 2024, at Springbrook Center in Westbrook, surrounded by her loving family. Peggy was born on January 16, 1944, in Portland, ME, the daughter of the late Thomas G. Myatt and Rita Myatt. She grew up in Portland and graduated from South Portland High School, where she made lifelong friendships. After graduation, Peggy worked in the office at Portland News Company before becoming a full-time homemaker. Once her children became high school-aged she accepted an associate position at JCPenney in the catalog department. On May 21, 1966, Peggy married the love of her life, George William O'Donnell III, at St. John’s Church in South Portland. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Peggy was a dedicated wife, mother, and homemaker, actively involved in her children's lives, including volunteering as a Girl Scouts leader. Peggy took an active role in a lifelong sorority, Beta Sigma Phi, sharing joy and celebrating every occasion with her sorority sisters. Peggy was a communicant of St. John’s Church and embraced the social aspects of church life, spending time with friends and family. She was known for her caring nature, infectious smile, and unwavering love for her family. Later on in life, she came to live at Springbrook Center in Westbrook. While there, she particularly enjoyed the activities they offered like projects, arts and crafts, and of course weekly bingo. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, George William O'Donnell III, and her parents, Thomas and Rita Myatt. Peggy is survived by her two daughters, Kathleen Saucier of South Portland, and Mary Ellen Pennington and her husband Shawn of Windham; her sisters, Patricia Myatt of South Portland and Barbara Pearson and her husband John of Georgetown, Massachusetts; her brother, John Myatt and his wife Roberta of Westbrook; her cherished grandson, Bradley Saucier; and many nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly. Visiting hours celebrating Peggy’s life will be held on Monday, October 14, 2024 from 4:00pm to 6:00pm at Conroy-Tully Walker, 1024 Broadway, South Portland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, October 15 at 10:00am at Holy Cross Church, 124 Cottage Road, South Portland with a burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery, 1461 Broadway, South Portland. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Peggy’s memory to her Beta Sigma Phi, P.O.
