Margaret B. "Margie" Dutil, 76, of Norway, Maine, died on Monday, April 9, 2018 at the Norway Center for Health and Rehabilitation. Margie was born in Lewiston on January 14, 1942 to W. Graham and June (Brown) Bachelder. She graduated from Norway High School where she played the clarinet in the band and enjoyed playing basketball. She also attended Springvale's Nasson College. During much of her working life she was employed as a beloved bus driver for several different school districts, including Bonny Eagle, Gorham and Oxford Hills. Margie enjoyed books and puzzles of all types and playing competitive dominoes, cards and board games -- especially Scrabble. She was a talented seamstress and excelled at painting, drawing and stamping. She was an excellent cook, a creative gardener, she loved to watch the birds and was very interested in genealogy and local history. Margie enjoyed traveling and spent many winters visiting Florida and other southern states with her longtime companion, the late Barry Cordwell. They shared a passion for all the New England sports teams and all the events that her children and grandchildren participated in. She also gained much enjoyment from spending time at the family camp lot on Keewaydin Lake and from her other favorite things such as cheese, dancing and singing to the "oldies" and adding to her extensive giraffe collection.Margie will be remembered as a kind and loving mother, sister and grandmother. She will be dearly missed by her family and many classmates and friends. Until her illness she loved to socialize weekly with "the girls" from Norway High. Surviving are four children, Springvale's Laurie K. Beals, Lyman's Eric T. Beals and his wife Jenn, Hawaii resident Adam P. Dutil and his wife Nicole and Alan J. Dutil her compassionate caregiver until the end. She was especially proud of her five grandchildren, Evan T. Beals, Elizabeth A. Beals, Trevor G. Beals, Alec T. Dutil and Caleb P. Dutil. She also leaves behind a dedicated sister, Candace Bachelder Cummings and her husband Al of Waterford. She had several nieces and nephews along with stepchildren from her second marriage whose lives she continued to follow. Cindy Pettersen was among those who provided Margie with strength, love and extra support until the end. A small graveside service will be held at the Hillside Cemetery Located on Route 5 in East Stoneham at 1:00 PM on Sunday May 20th with a gathering/celebration of life to follow at 2:00 PM at the Norway Country Club, located at 310 Waterford Road in Norway. Arrangements are under the direction of Black Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, Sanford-Springvale.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Margaret's name may be sent to Norway Center for Health and Rehabilitation.
