Margaret "Peggy" DoreYork, MaineMargaret "Peggy" Avilla Dore, 88, of 6 Norwood Farms Road, died Friday evening following a long period of declining health. She was born April 5, 1916 in Buxton, the daughter of Walter C. and Matilda Ham Leavitt.She attended Hollis Center schools and formerly worked in the Saco-Lowell Textile Mills. For many years she knitted and braided rugs and sold them from her home at the "Old Trunk Shop" on Route 1 in York.In 1947, she married Mahlon Dore and together, they raised 2 children, Timothy M. Dore, of Sandown, NH and Clarissa "Gloria" Goodwin of Eliot. Mahlon died in 1976.Besides her son and daughter, she is survived by four grandchildren; Mary and her husband John Robles and their daughter Sierra, of Somersworth, NH; David and his wife Christine Goodwin and their children Courtney and Trevor of Kittery, ME; Mark and Brandie Goodwin and their daughter Shyanne of Berwick, ME; and Deborah Goodwin and her daughter Shania Cornnett of Chesapeake, VA; and her beloved sister, Daisy Leavitt of Arundel, ME.She will be missed by all who knew her.Relatives and friend may call at the Heald Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale, ME from 6-8 PM on Sunday, where a funeral will be held at 1 PM Monday. The Rev. Judson Stone, pastor of the Cape Neddick Baptist Church, will officiate. A time of fellowship and refreshment at the Heald Family Center will immediate follow the service.
