Madeline E. Gowen

Madeline E. Gowen, 90 years old, a 55 year resident of Brighton, MA, and a resident of Sanford, ME, since 1968, died Tuesday May 4, 2005 at St. Andre's Home in Biddeford, ME.Mrs. Gowen was born on April 4, 1915 in Boston, MA. She was the daughter of Peter and Margaret Barry Roma. Mrs. Gowen was educated in Massachusetts and spent the greater portion of her life caring for her family. For many years she nursed her father, uncle, and later her husband; providing them with the special attention that only a loved one could give.Her devotion to family, and caring manor will be the legacy she leaves behind for those who met her.Predeceasing her was her husband Earl in 1992, a sister Miriam, and a brother, John.Surviving is a daughter Donna Fitzpatrick of California; two sons, Barry Gowen of Virginia, and Stephen Gowen of Sanford, ME. Also surviving are her grandchildren Billy, Andrea, Kevin, and several nieces, nephews and friends.A period of visitation will be held on Friday, May 6th from 5 to 8 PM at the Carll-Heald and Black Funeral Home, Springvale, ME. A 9:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday the 7th at St. Ignatius Church in Sanford. Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery.
