Mabelle Shirley

Mabelle Spencer Shirley, 92, of Springvale, passed away on her birthday, March 8th at the Lodges in Springvale. She was born in Berwick on March 8, 1920, a daughter of the late Wilbur and Florence (Ford) Spencer. A graduate of Cony High School in Augusta, she then attended Colby College in Waterville.For many years she was employed at the former Nasson College in Springvale in the dining commons and the Lions Den.She was an avid cook, she enjoyed knitting and crocheting.She is predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Cleveland "Tim" Shirley Sr., who passed away in 1995, her son, Cleveland T. Shirley Jr., who passed away in 2003.She is survived by two sons, James J. of Cape Neddick, Kevin L. of Wakefield, NH, one daughter, Mrs. Robert (Sharon) Boynton of Acton, five grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.Per her wishes services and burial will be private for the family at Evergreen Cemetery in Berwick.Arrangements are under the direction of the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale.Condolences may be expressed at www.blackfuneralhomes.com.
