Mabel A. Stanley Carpenter

Mabel A. Stanley Carpenter, 91 of Sanford, died Friday afternoon, September 9, 2005 at the Newton Center in Sanford, Maine.Mabel was born on September 25, 1913 to Eva (Sawyer) Vachon; she resided in Shapleigh for most of her life. She volunteered at the Trafton Center for over 25 years, she was awarded a special plaque for her tireless work, which she continued to do into her 90's. She was also an active member of the A.A.R.P. She was recognized several times for her many contributions to this organization. Mabel was a communicant of Holy Family Church in Sanford. She was very devoted to her family; she especially enjoyed and loved her grandchildren. She was very proud of them and would save any mention of them that would appear in the newspaper. Mabel was predeceased by her first husband and the father of her children, Harlan G. Stanley, by her second husband, Maurice Carpenter and by four siblings, Thomas Vachon, Lawrence Vachon, Raymond Vachon and Pearl Bodwell.She is survived by her three sons, Danny G. Stanley and his wife Linda; Roger (John) Stanley and his wife Beatrice; and Richard Stanley and his wife Marguerite; a sister, Wilma Garland; a brother, Wilbur Vachon; six grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.A period of visitation will be held at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home located at 580 Main Street in Springvale on Monday, September 12, 2005 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. A funeral Mass will be held at Holy Family Church located on North Avenue in Sanford on Tuesday, September 13, 2005 at 9:00 A.M. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Springvale. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Mountain View Activities Fund, 164 Hanson's Ridge Road, Springvale, Maine 04083.
