Lyndon "Ed" Woodcock, 84, of Reed Street, Springvale died Sunday, July 11, 2004 at the Shaw House in Biddeford. He was born in Farmington, Maine on April 22, 1920 a son of Raymond F. and Myrtle (Niles) Woodcock and moved to Windsor, Vermont in 1926 and to Sanford in 1927.Lyndon attended schools here and graduated from Sanford High School in 1938.Mr. Woodcock stared work at the Goodall-Sanford Mills in 1938 and joined the Army in 1942. He served 2 1/2 years in Europe and was Honorably Discharged as a Staff Sergeant in the Signal Corp in 1945.Upon returning from active duty, Lyndon went back to work with the Goodall -Sanford mills and transferred to the Reading, MA division of the company in 1955 and was made supervisor of payroll. He retired following 43 years of dedicated service. Mr. Woodcock was a Mason at Preble Lodge # 143, a member of the Unitarian Church, a member of the 50 plus club and lifetime member of the American Legion. He was also a charter member and treasurer of the singing group, " The Merry Men" and president of the Unitarian Church Group, "The Trojan Club."Survivors include his nephew, Roger Woodcock and his wife, Linda of Arundel; his grand nephews, Jonathan and his wife, Carrie of Waterboro; Christopher of Burlington, VT and Steven of Arundel. Also, a grandniece, Heather Woodcock of Arundel and a sister-in-law, Phyllis Woodcock of Augusta.His brother, Roger N. Woodcock, Sr. of Augusta, predeceased him.A Graveside Service with Full Military Honors will be held on Friday, July 16, 2004 at 11:00 am at the East Wilton Cemetery in E. Wilton, Maine. There will be no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army, P.O. Box 616, Sanford, ME 04073.
