Lorraine M. White, 82, of Kennebunk, Maine, formerly of Nashua, New Hampshire, passed away in Kennebunk on Saturday, January 9, 2016.Born Marie Lorraine Bush in Biddeford, Maine on June 13, 1933, she was the daughter of Joseph and Frances Bush. She was known as Lorraine to her loving and extended family of husband, sons, daughters-in-law, brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. She was fondly known as Grammy to her dear grandchildren and great-grandchildren.Lorraine traveled extensively throughout the world, creating homes in Africa, Japan and Germany for her family while her husband served in the Army. She and her family eventually settled in Nashua, New Hampshire before moving to Kennebunk, Maine. Lorraine loved playing a good bingo game, singing a country song and spending time with her family and friends. She created a business, American Handicrafts, worked at Klymers and Nashua Corp and enjoyed her time volunteering at the Nightingale Nursing Home caring for the elderly.Lorraine was predeceased by her husband, William White; a daughter, Mary White; a son, Joseph White; two grandchildren, Bonnie and Harley White; her sister, Sue Duncan Calder and her brother, Robert Bush.Surviving are two sons, Billy White and his wife Elissa of Kennebunk, Maine and Jim White and his wife Kathy of Nashua, New Hampshire; two grandchildren, Sarah White of Nashua, New Hampshire and Jason White and his wife Shelly of Knoxville, Tennessee; three great-grandchildren, Samantha and Amanda White, both of Knoxville, Tennessee and Caleb White of West Palm, Florida; a brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Esther Bush as well as several nieces and nephews.The family would like to extend grateful thanks to the amazing staff at Huntington Commons for the wonderful care that they provided to Lorraine.A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, January 14th at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, located at 580 Main Street in Springvale, Maine.Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider sending a memorial contribution to VNA Home Health Hospice, 144 State Street, Portland, Maine 04101.Arrangements are under the direction of Black Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, Sanford-Springvale.To leave a message of condolence for the family please click on the condolences tab to the left.
