Lillian Guillemette

Lillian C. Guillemette, 93, of Springvale, passed away at her home in Springvale of Saturday November 12, 2005. She was born in Sanbornville, NH, on May 25, 1912 a daughter of James and Delvina (Drouin) Crateau. She attended St. Charles School and graduated from Dover High School. She had resided in Sanford and Springvale since 1930.Mrs. Guillemette was a hostess at the local U.S.O. during the Korean War, and was a local chairperson for the sale of U.S. War Bonds. She was a communicant of St. Ignatius Roman Catholic Church in Sanford where she directed the choir for 9 years she was also a member of the Altar Society. She was past president of the Ethelbert Nevin Music club, a member of the Richmond Glee Club and was vice president of the Searchlight Club. She was a volunteer for the American Red Cross and worked at area blood banks. She volunteered as a "gray lady" at Goodall Hospital and was a member of the Goodall Hospital Auxiliary.Mrs. Guillemette enjoyed her church. Her hobbies were her music, reading and visiting shut-ins.Her husband, Albert L. Guillemette, died in 1980. She is survived by her brother in law, and sister in law, Ernest and Rose Girard of Burlington, VT, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.Visiting hours will be on Tuesday November 15 from 4 to 7pm at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11am at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Sanford. Burial will follow at St. Ignatius Cemetery in Sanford.In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in her memory to Waban Association.
