Lila Esther Guth

Lila E. Guth, 82, of Main Street, So. Berwick, died at Goodall Hospital Saturday, April 3, 2004 in Sanford. She was born in Milton, New York a daughter of George H. and Verna E. (Stone) Barnes and graduated from Susquehanna University, with the Class of 1942 in New York.Lila served in the U.S. Navy during WW II and was honorably discharged with the rank of Yeoman First Class. She worked many years as an executive secretary with a distribution company, Oakite in St. Louis, MO. Later, Mrs. Guth moved to Minneapolis, MN and was employed with Fairmont Railway Motors, retiring in 1979.Mrs. Guth enjoyed retirement in Melbourne, Florida. She was active in her church and gave generously to several spiritual groups. She took a trip to Israel with special friends and members from church. Mrs. Guth was an avid reader and will be remembered as a kind and giving person.Survivors include her son, Richard Bardes of Durham, NH; Three grandchildren, Melissa Barratt of Dover, NH; Anthony and Ashley Bardes of Seabrook, NH. Also, two great grandchildren, Jade and Christian Barratt. Her husband, Edwin Guth predeceased her.A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, April 8, 2004 at 7 pm at the Heald Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvall.
