Leon L. Hartford

Leon L. Hartford, 95 of Maple St. in Lebanon, ME died Wednesday May 15, 2002 at the Newton Center in Sanford, ME.Mr. Hartford was born on April 25, 1907 in Hiram, ME. He was the son of Clement and Mary Abbot Hartford. It was in Hiram that he was raised, attended schools, and spent most of his life.Gardening was one of Mr. Hartford's favorite pastimes. He raised beautiful flowers and strawberries. Most of his working days were spent on the farms of Dr. Hussey and Dr. Remmick. Whether it was planting crops, working the wood lot, or tending to the farm animals Mr. Hartford did his job with pride and a sense of humor. In his spare time he enjoyed going fishing, or dancing.Surviving is a son Wayne Hartford Sr. of N. Conway, his very special friend and companion of over 25 years Eunice Beaudoin of Lebanon, several grandchildren; three stepsons, Roger, Donald, and Allen Hartford, a stepdaughter Shirley Richer Woodman, and several nieces and nephews.Committal services for Mr. Hartford will be held at Riverside Cemetery in Cornish, ME at 10:00 AM on Wednesday May 29, 2002.
