Leo H. Richard

Leo Herman Richard, 82, of Garfield Road, West Newfield, died Sunday, June 1, 2003, at Greenwood Center, Sanford, following a year of declining health. He was born in Nashua, NH September 12, 1920, a son of Phileas and Catherine (McCaffery) Richard. He lived in West Newfield, ME for the past 21 years and formerly lived in Nashua, NH.He attended Nashua schools, and was active in football, hockey and baseball. He served in the U. S. Army during WWII in the Pacific Theater. He returned to Nashua in 1945 where he owned and operated Richard Roofing Company until his retirement in 1980.He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Wanda (Shepard) Richard of West Newfield, ME; a son Lee M., and his wife Linda, Richard of Merrimack, NH; 3 grandchildren, Patrick & Lisa Richard of Bedford, NH, Jake & Stephanie Richard of Rochester, NH and Michael Richard of Alexandria, VA; 2 great-grandsons, Alex Richard of Bedford, NH and Zach Richard of Rochester, NH; and several nieces and nephews.Mr. Richard was pre-deceased by a son Michael Richard, a brother, Oscar Richard and 2 sisters, Blanche Gagnon and Cordelia Moody.At the request of Mr. Richard, there will be no services.
