Leo Roger Dumais, 60, a 35 year resident of North Berwick and formerly of Sanford, passed away on Friday, February 24, 2012 at the Maine Medical Center in Portland with his family by his side. Leo was born in Sanford on April 24, 1951 a son of Lucien and the late Jacqueline (Gosselin) Dumais.In 1970 he married the former Susan R. Hicken at Holy Family Church in Sanford.His first job was with the Sutton Mills. He then worked for Davidson & Rubber and the Zodiak Shoe Shop. Upon earning his G.E.D. he went to work at Hussey Seating Company where he had been employed for the past 13 years.Leo was a 45 year 3rd Degree member of the Sanford Knights of Columbus, a 23 year member of the Sanford Elk's Lodge, a three year member of the American Legion. He was also a member of the Wolves Club and Lafayette Social Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family and friends.Leo is survived by his wife of 42 years, Susan Dumais of North Berwick, his daughter, Crystal L. Callahan, granddaughter, Elizabeth Susan Callahan, his father, Lucien Dumais, two sisters, Susan Dumais and her husband, Lee Ritchie, Jane Sprusansky, brother, Albert Dumais, his buddy and best friend, Ben his black lab who he loved spending time with and was always at his side. He is also survived by nieces, Jacqueline, Heidi, Megan and Michelle, nephews, Todd, Mark and Ryan as well as several great nieces, nephews and cousins.The family would like to thank in a special way the staff at Maine Medical for their extraordinary kindness and compassion.Visiting hours for Leo will be on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8PM at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter Street, Sanford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11AM at St. Therese of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church.
