Lawrence Carpenter

Lawrence W. Carpenter, 93 , of Springvale, passed away on Sunday June 4, 2006 at Pine Point Nursing Care Facility in Scarborough. He was born on the family farm in Springvale on March 6, 1913, a son of Oscar and Mabel (Tibbetts) Carpenter.He attended local Sanford Schools. Along with his brother, Roger , they owned and worked the family farm until the mid 60's. He then worked at Aero-Fab until his retirement in the early 80's.On April 20, 1952 he married Virginia Symmes in Rochester, NH and they were married for 30 years until she passed away in 1982. His hobbies included gardening, reading and baking. He was well known for his "Blueberry Muffins."He is also predeceased by one step daughter, Cathy Taylor who passed away in 1985. He is survived by two step sons, Allan R. Carpenter of Cobbs Creek, VA, Clifton A. Carpenter of Apple Valley, MN, one daughter, Carolyn C. Colpitts of Saco as well as several grandchildren and nieces and nephews.A graveside service will be held on Thursday June 8 at 11am at Oakdale Cemetery in Sanford.In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in his memory to the Springvale Public Library 443 Main Street, Springvale, Maine 04083.Arrangements are under the direction of the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street Springvale.Condolences may be expressed by using the tab to the left.
