Laurent J. Bougie, 92, of Springvale, died on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough, surrounded by his loving family and his dog Belle.Laurent was born on September 2, 1922 to Philias and Delia (Bouffard) Bougie in Sanford where he grew up and attended local schools. He served in the U.S Navy during World War II in the South Pacific aboard the Belleau Wood and was involved in nine major battles. He was employed for many years at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. Laurent will be remembered as fun-loving man with a great sense of humor and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.Laurent was predeceased by his wife Gloria and by his son Greg.Surviving are two sons, Ronald Bougie of Auburn and Carl Bougie and his girlfriend Desra of Springvale; three grandchildren, Laurel, Andrea and Amber Bougie; Desra's daughter, Madison Edmunds; his sister, Lorraine Taylor and her husband Bob of Seminole, Florida; a niece, Mary Libbey and her husband Bob; three nephews, Peter Taylor, James Taylor and his wife Cheryl and Philip Taylor and his extended family at the golf course and McDonald's. Interment will be in the spring at the Southern Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Springvale.Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider sending a memorial contribution to Gosnell Memorial Hospice House, 11 Hunnewell Road, Scarborough, Maine 04074.Arrangements are under the direction of Black Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, Sanford-Springvale.To leave a message of condolence for the family please click no the condolences tab to the left.
