New Gloucester – Kyle A. Liptak, 46, passed away after a short illness on February 9, 2022.

The short but remarkably impactful life of Kyle began on Sept. 9, 1975. He was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut to John and Elizabeth (Masse) Liptak. Growing up in Naugatuck, CT, Kyle graduated from W.F. Kaynor Technical High School in 1993.

Following school, he pursued a career as a Union Electrician (IBEW 488) from 1993-2018, a career in which he excelled. He started as an apprentice, obtained his E-1 license, and was a foreman with Ducci Electrical for more than 10 years. In recent years, he founded and ran his own electrical contracting business in Connecticut. After that, Kyle and his wife, Tara, pursued their dream of living in Maine where once again, Kyle with his entrepreneurial spirit had the ball rolling with another successful business launch until Thanksgiving of last year where unfortunately his health took a devastating turn for the worst.

Still even with the terrible diagnosis, Kyle’s personality was still larger than life. He had the quickest of wits and a dry, quiet, and dark sense of humor. People who understood his humor knew what an amazing man he was and if you didn’t, you missed out. He was an introvert with a small inner circle and if you were his friend, you were his friend for life. Once you earned his loyalty, he never faltered with it. Kyle was an amazing teacher and he was excited to mentor the next generation of electricians in the many apprentices he worked with over the years. There was no gray area with Kyle. It was black or white, never or now, go big or go home. In spite of his rough-edged exterior, he was soft-hearted, honest, humble, and a dreamer. He loved little his family and his animals fiercely.

When he wasn’t working or mentoring the next generation of electricians, he was buying, selling, and running Ford pick-up trucks into the ground, turning wrenches, John Deere tractors, “junking”, travel (he dreamed of visiting Moscow, seeing the Kremlin, and bumping into Putin), trains, LEGOs, drinking Heinekens with friends and quiet coffee mornings on the porch with his wife, Tara, listening to Iron Maiden, and German World War II history. He had lots of good times and laughs with friends at swap meets and in his Naugatuck neighborhood where he grew up.

Above all else, his daughter, Riley, was the light of Kyle’s life. He was the best girl dad ever and he loved teaching her about the things he loved. They took tractor rides around the yard, ate hot dogs and ice cream sundaes together, had piggy-back rides and tickle fests, went to the Bronx Zoo, had dance parties, and shopped at Home Depot. Riley was Kyle’s little “Squirt” and his proudest moment was the day he knew she would be his daughter.

Kyle’s loyal and loving personality will forever be missed, but will live on in those who knew him.

He is predeceased by his father, John Liptak and his grandmother, Mary Masse.

Kyle is survived by his wife, Tara; his little “Squirt”, Riley Anne; siblings, Marc Liptak, Bryan Liptak; half-siblings, Richard, John, Joanne, and Debra; mother, Elizabeth Liptak; grandfather, Roger Masse.

  3. I am so very sorry that you lost Kyle so early in life. Kyle was a great guy, husband, and dad; his pride in his family was obvious. Kyle taught me how to play legos when we were much younger, but I remember the two of us building on our bellies on the living room floor. He was older than I was, but he always had time to play with his little cousin. My boys are still playing with those same legos and it makes me smile. Although we are far away, please don’t hesitate to ask if you ever need anything. Our thoughts are with you. –Stef (Masse) Talpey and Russ, Jack, George, Hank, and Eloise
